Since May, Ntara has welcomed eight new employees to the team, added four new clients, and teamed up with a new product information management system, inRiver.

We’ve been a tad busy.

Ironically, we’ve seen a direct correlation between the number of hours logged in the shop and the improved quality of ping-pong matches in the Game Room. Stress relief? Slackers? We’re not sure…we’ll let you do the math.

And with the mention of “math,” our next player profile features our biggest mathlete in the building. He’s so nerdy, he uses his old Calculus and Differential Equations text books as weights.

Meet Zach Helbert—Business Analyst at Ntara. It’s guys like Zach who take all the fun out of Fantasy Football leagues. He runs the numbers and statistics on each player to measure his own probability of winning. (Actually, we’re kind of jealous of his dedication to excellence.)

When Zach isn’t crunching the data, he’s crushing opponents at the ping-pong table. Read his profile below.

Hailing from Bristol, TN, this 6’3, 230-pound Goliath is all business around the table. He first got into the game in high school. Things started to get really serious when he started at Ntara about a year-and-a-half ago. Zach has coined the term “Big Data Breakfast,” which he consumes every morning before arriving at the office. “I like to start the day off with a three-egg omelet with cheese and three sausage patties to ensure I have plenty of protein.”

Alter-ego: Big Data Helbert

Favorite Move: The Big Data Backhand

Paddle Model: Dawei DW2 (ALL+) R2 (OFF) 85g 5W

Favorite pump-up song: “Lose Yourself” – Eminem*

Sport idol: Brian McCann from the Atlanta Braves

Celebrity role model: I don’t care much for celebrities. Too many of them have a big ego, like Dirty Drain.

Workout technique: Intense footwork to ensure quick reaction time and playing video games to increase hand-eye coordination.

Who is your support system back home: My beautiful fiancé and our mischievous cat, Merlin.

Favorite game time moment or all-time crowning achievement as a player: The day I finally beat Dirty Drain, Bryce Crum, Mickey Brown.

Anything else you want to share? As Seth Green once said, “All of my activities are so pedestrian. The extreme sport I play is ping-pong. And we play it hard. If any of you suckers want to step up to the table, be ready.” Oh, and Mosby, I am coming for you.

Zach has recently thrown down the gauntlet for an all-hands on deck, single elimination ping-pong tournament. We’ll report back with all the details and another Player Profile in the next edition of “Office Sports.”

*Editor’s Note: Historically, Zach is known for choking in matches against people he really wants to beat. Around the office, we call this move “Mom’s Spaghetti.”
