About the Client

The Outer Banks Hospital (OBH) is the first and only hospital located on North Carolina’s Outer Banks. Until they opened their doors in 2002, residents and tourists at the Outer Banks had to travel hours to get the emergency medical help they needed. Through a partnership between Vidant Health and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, however, a local hospital for the Outer Banks was born.

Challenge

The Outer Banks Hospital needed a website that could cater to two audiences with very different needs: island locals and seasonal tourists. Their local residents cared deeply about the hospital’s community connections and wanted to see that reflected on their website. But when tourists visited the site, they didn’t have time for that. Usually, it was an emergency.

Approach

Ntara completely redesigned and rebuilt the website on Kentico Xperience, an all-in-one content management system (CMS) and digital experience platform (DXP). A host of new content on the site now speaks to the hospital’s deep connections to the community. But for those in a hurry, a streamlined, mobile-friendly menu now provides one-tap access to the services you need in an emergency.

Final Experience

The new Outer Banks Hospital site is more user-friendly than ever. The new site embodies the warmth of the community it serves. And, with it’s easy interface, “Urgent Care”, “Find A Doctor”, and “Get Directions” are an easy thumb tap away.
